Lump Under the Skin in the Pubic Hair Region

Hey, I have reading other people's threads on this subject but not all match mine so I would like to ask my question. I am 19 years old and I have a lump in my pubic region about and inch above my penis. The lump feels like a pea under the skin. The skin above the lump is flat but seems red. This has come overnight. There are no indications of ingrowing hairs, such as red/black dots in my pubic region but i do trim my pubes. I don't believe it is an STD as I've had the same partner from we were both virgins. Hopefully you can help.

Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis or cyst.  
Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You  can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
