Lump on finger.

So, I have an eraser head size lump on my ring finger and was told by my doctor that it was most likely a wart. I've had warts before and this didn't seem like one. The skin is very smooth and the lump itself is squishy, not hard like a wart would be. It is also a purplish color and does not hurt to touch.

Not sure if it was a wart or not I started using some over the counter wart medicine on it (Salicylic acid), but instead of it kinda "peeling" away like my last warts, it became painful and wasn't seeming to become smaller. When squeezed a very small amount of clear odorless puss would also come out.

I do not think it is infected, but i also do not think it is a wart.

Any advice?
