Hello,
This lump can be due to folliculitis or infected hair follicle, cyst, boil or a swollen lymph node. Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
With serious acne I found that I would get these nasty lumps that took forever to reach the surface and erupt. This may be the caae with you. I never found a cure and the condition did not die away until my 50's. Sad news. What did help was not stimulating the skin of my face in anyway. In fact all I did was rinse it in lukewarm water - no soap - no astringents - no facials - no sunbathing. Following that routine I prevented serious flareups.
