Maniac Moles

I took my son to the dermatologist this morning to check about a small, flat, darkly pigmented area that appeared between his toes (we just discovered it).  She said after examining it that it is a maniac mole and nothing to worry about. It concerned my because the borders were not clear, and it just appeared. I have never heard of this type of mole and can find nothing on the internet.  Could you please give me some info on it, and tell me if this is any reason for concern?  Would a second opinion be warranted?  Thank you!

I am pretty sure you misheard, because there is no such term as "maniac mole," and I'm at a loss to think of what else might have been said that sounds like that.  I would add that most moles in kids, even those between the toes, don't amount to anything and can be left alone.  As your skin doctor what she meant to say, but I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

Best.
