Many, many tiny pimples on genitals

I'm a straight, 18 year old male. About a month ago I was given oral sex. Because I was not getting off, I decided to have sex with the girl. Before completing full-penetration, I decided against having sex with the girl as I did not have a condom. Genital-to-genital contact existed for about 10 seconds.

About a week and a half ago, I began to notice these small pimple-like bumps on my penis. They are very, very small and vary in color from flesh-colored to light red. Several have white heads but do not resemble acne. There are about 20 "larger" bumps and an even greater number of smaller bumps all over the shaft of my penis. There also appears to be a slight red rash on my scrotum and in the pubic region where the pubic hair grows, but not on my penis. I don't believe them to be Fordyce spot's as I have those. These do not resemble them in any way.

My genitals are a bit itchy, but nothing that I haven't felt in the past. Other than that, there is no pain. Just these unsightly bumps. I consulted my physician four days ago and she gave a quick visually examination. She dispelled herpes and genital warts. She told me to apply cortizone cream and see her if there were no improvements.

Since visiting her there have been no improvements. The rash has actually just developed in the last two days or so and I just noticed many of the even smaller bumps just a few moments ago.

I've been incredibly stressed out over the matter, even after being told that herpes and genital warts are highly unlikely. My biggest concern is this being a sexually transmitted disease, as I am sexually active. I've spent the better part of the last week scouring the Internet, looking at pictures and reading up on STD's and dermatological disorders that resemble mine, but I've had no luck.

Please, if there is any information that can be provided based upon my information, I'm all ears. I think the biggest stress factor is not knowing what the issue is.

Thanks again for any help.

Hello,
Regarding compound W, The precaution that is there for using this is” Avoid the eyes, mouth, lips, inside the nose, genitals, and anal areas when applying salicylic acid topical. Do not use the wart remover on moles or birthmarks, or warts with hair growing from them, red edges, or unusual color.”So do not use this compound on the sensitive skin of genitalia without getting it prescribed from your dermatologist. You should not attempt manual excision on your own but rather get it done from a dermatologist under aseptic conditions as risk of infection and trauma are always there when doing it at home. Curettage  is the use of a curette to remove tissue by scraping or scooping. Cryotherapy is extreme temperatures, to destroy cells by crystallizing the cytosol. You can choose any of these therapies after discussing with your dermatologist.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Dr. Kaur,

A couple of questions on treatment:

1) Would the use of a product such as Compound W or another product with salicylic acid be an effective form of home treatment.

2) Is it ill-advised to attempt manual extrusion myself?

3) If curettage or cryotherapy are my best choices, what do those treatments entail?

Hello,
From the symptoms it can be infected hair follicles or molluscum contagiosum. In adults, molluscum infections are often sexually transmitted and can transmit from one site to other skin sites by aoutoinocultaion. The MC rash initially appears as smooth, pearly to flesh-colored, dome-shaped papules. With time, the center becomes soft and indented (umbilicated) with a white curdlike core. Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
