Matts Rash

by mattsrash, Jan 12, 2009 10:38PM
My brother in law of 1 year has these rashes all over his body which he says are eczema sometimes and psoriais at other times.  Sometimes he says nothing about it.  I am VERY suspicious that this could be something else b/c my sister now has the same rashes on her.  I told her one day she had the same rashes as her husband and said she developed hives from stress.  Well we were trying on clothes th eother day and I see it all over her body.  NO one in my family has this kind of problem.  Someone suggested to me it could be hepatitis but she won't get checked out.  I think he has knowingly infected her with something.  I don't want to get it.  These rashes are like dry skin.  Almost like a sunburn that is chaffing and they are all over their bodies.  Not peeling off like flakes of skin but like chaffing or like a skinned knee in some places.  I am worried.  What could this be????  His is much much worse on his legs.  It's like sores.

Hi,
"Psoriasis is a non-contagious disorder affecting the skin and joints which commonly causes red scaly patches called psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes on a silvery-white appearance. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees. In contrast to eczema, psoriasis is more likely to be found on the extensor aspect of the joint." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psoriasis
There may be many causes which may appear to aggravate psoriasis - stress, alcohol   and smoking are some of these.
There is a wide variety of treatment options available, response to which is determined by the degree and intensity of involvement. You may have to see a dermatologist to get a complete check-up, diagnosis and customized therapy in this case.
Hope this helped. Let me know if you may have any other queries.
