Maybe an infection?

I am a 24 y.o female and I have a gynecologist question. In the past ( about 3 years ago) I have shaved my pubic area pretty often. Upon doing that I noticed that I began to develop small pimples, that were filled with clear fluid . They were not pain full, and they would go away on their own. The only problem is they would leave dark mark on my skin. I went to my doctor and she diagnosed me with folliculitis and basically told me to do little to no shaving and also to change my blades every time I shaved.

I stopped shaving and began just trimming, but recently ( as in a couple of days ago) i resorted back to shaving. After I shaved I felt fine, but about two or three days later I began noticing different symptoms. I began to notice that on my pelvis area I had this white dry flaky skin, almost like dandruff appear. It also extended out to my inner thighs. The interesting this is, when i touched it, it is very flaky and falls right off. I also have noticed that my thighs feels very warm to the touch, and so does my pelvis. The area has also been very itchy and uncomfortable for me. It is not painful, just uncomfortable. I applied Vaseline to try to get rid of the dry skin, and i even applied Vagisil to the area for three days, but it did not help. The Vagisil cured the itchy for a little while. The dry flaky skin is recurring. Upon closer inspection i also noticed a painless small bump, that is flesh colored on the inside section of my vagina. It does not look like a pimple and there are no secretions.

In the past week I have had a sexual encounter but pretty much it was oral sex and a fair amount of his penis coming in contact with my vagina, without a condom, but there was no actual intercourse. Could you tell me what my symptoms are please?

Hello,

I cannot confirm without examination, but it sounds like eczema. It is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. This vaginal bump can be a bartholin’s cyst, hair follicle or genital wart(as unprotected skin to skin contact was there).

Wash the areas several times with fresh water and do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).

Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

If still the symptoms do not improve then pls get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted on how you are doing.
