Medical term for 'chicken skin'

by Dell, Jun 01, 2001 12:00AM
I posted a question to you on 5/30, which you answered yesterday. Unfortunately my question was not completely answered.  I asked what the full medical term for the condition that is called "chicken skin".   I wish to do further research on this condition.  Could you please list the name for me. Thank you very much.

I didnt answer because I don't know.  Some people use this term to refer to severe sun damage.  This is called, "Poikiloderma of Civatte."  Others use it to refer to a genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.  None of my huge dermatology textbooks have an index item, "chicken skin," and a Google search got me record companies.

Would it be out of line for me to suggest that you ask the dermatologist who examined you what he or she thinks it is?

Best.
