Medicine Application

by Cathy Maksymiuk, Sep 14, 1999 12:00AM
My 13-year-old daughter was treated five weeks ago, while out of town, for acne.  She's doing a little better, but I have a question.  The doctor prescribed Cleocin T Gel twice during the day, and Avita Cream every other night.  Should she wash her face of the Cleocin before applying the Avita?  Does it make a difference?  How long after her skin clears should she stay on this regimen?

Cathy:

No, don't wash off the Cleocin.  She can put the Avita on just a few minutes after the Cleocin.

Once she clears completely for 2 months, she can stop.  If she hasn't cleared up after 8-10 weeks, you should let her doctor know.  He or she can then change or add to her regimen.

Best.
