Melanoma

Hi, I posted once before when I had two moles removed because they looked abnormal.  Results came back and one is melanoma.  It is .49 mm and superficial.  I go tomorrow to have more of it removed.  Doc is optimistic, saying it is very small and doesn't think I will need any further treatment after tomorrow.

Anyone have any advice you can offer.  It would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi.

Localized melanoma may be readily managed and treated through surgical removal and this is done through a wide excision of the skin lesion. I know you are anxious about this. Surgical removal of localized or early stage melanoma is mostly successful.

Just keep close follow up and consult with your physician or oncologist. If there are any suspicious discolorations in other parts of the body, or if there are presence of swollen or enlarged nodes, it is best to have these assessed immediately.
