??Melanoma

by boodesigns, Jun 08, 2009 11:09AM
I am a 48 year old white female who had a mole removed by shave biopsy @8 years ago,  biopsy returned benign.  I was told it would probably grow back and it did and has been with me ever since.  My Internist just checked it and is concerned, of course my Dermatologist can't see me for 3 weeks and now I am freaked!
My question is, do previously biopsied benign moles return as melanomas??  It it 14 x 21mm, a little bigger than what was removed, fairly symmetrical, dark brown with a flat pinkish center.  I was under the impression if and when it returned not to worry about it :(
Any help is appreciated since I must wait 3 weeks.   Thanks!!

I am not an expert on melanomas, but one thing I know is that a removed mole when returns may show atpyical cells but not  a cause for worry.
