Melasma and Birth Control

I am a 28 year old female.  I have been on birth control for the past 13 years (Ortho and Yazmin).
I am fair skinned and live in AZ (enough said).

About a year ago, melasma broke out all over my face (the classical butterfly pattern).

After trying multiple products, I finally quit birth control and had a heavy face peel as well as now being on Obagi skin bleach.

However, I am not comfortable being completely off birth control.  

My doctor has offered to prescribe me Orcella tablets which is a progesterone only pill (no estrogen).
However, I will do anything for the melasma not to come back!!!!

Will these pills perhaps cause any melasma again?
