Mole growing back after partial removal

Mole growing back after partial removal

Hi.
I have a raised birthmark on my chest, which my doctor tried to remove with liquid nitrogen. (my doctor said that it was a benign mole. And I only had it removed because of the fact that it's placement is quite annoying, as it scrapes against my clothes.)
The problem is that the mole was too deeply rooted, and didn't come off. It looked like only a top layer of it came off, and it looked smaller.
That was about a 6 weeks ago, but now it is the same size as it was before, and I'm very concerned if this is normal or not? Is it normal for it to grow if not removed properly?
And will it get even bigger?
I'm terrified at the moment, since I'm scheduled to have it removed in january, but I'm scared about how much it might grow before that.
Do you think it sounds suspicious?

If he did not remove the mole completely, yes, it does grow back.  My daughter has raised moles - several.  The doctor removed them partially also and they grew back, but not bigger.  Even when she was little, she picked them off of herself and they grew back.  So don't worry.  You'll be fine.  Hang in there.

Hello,
Recurrent moles after removal are quite common and can sometimes resemble a melanoma even. What happens is that melanocytes left behind in the wound regrow in an abnormal pattern. This is accompanied by scarring, inflammation, and blood vessel changes and this both the clinical and histologic impression of a melanoma.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
