Mole or skin tag

I am a 33yo female, I have a dark brown raised mole in my groin area.  It is about half the size of a pencil eraser, regular borders, does not itch nor bleed. It kinda has characteristics of a skin tag, can be moved,soft, wrinkles when touched.  My obgyn in 2007 said it was nothing to worry about, I also had my nurse practitioner look at it in April 08. She said it was nothing to be concerned about just to watch for change.  I have now watched this mole for 1.5 yrs, without change.  My husband says it has been for three or more years.  My question is would a melanoma or nodular melanoma go without change for a 1.5 yrs.  Can skin tags be dark brown and not necessarily be on a stalk.

Whether it is a mole (which seems more likely) or a skin tag, if it looks like what you describe and hasn't changed, I don't think it is of any concern.  Mention your worry to the practitioner who examined you in person, if you're still anxious.
