Molluscom incubation period from time of exposure

by needinanswers, Mar 06, 2007 12:00AM
My girlfriend contracted Molluscum on her pubic hair / genital area. Would she have had to come in contact with mature molluscom paples to receive this or could someone be a host without symptoms and give it to her? And, What is the normal incubation period from time of exposure to time of paples forming? Basically looking for the odds of contracting Molluscum in the pubic area without having sex and the timeline after exposure.

Sorry, can't give you a timeline.  Molluscum can be contagious, but often isn't (despite being termed 'contagiosum.'  It occurs quite often in kids, usually on their chest, without anyone in the vicinity having it.  So the fact that your girlfriend has it does not necessarily mean that she's been playing around, if that's your concern.  As to where they did come from, it's often impossible to say.

Best.
