Molluscum Question

I have been reading an older blog of Dr. A. Rockoff's regarding the condition, molluscum contagiosum. Anyway I was hoping to get something clarified. I had 3 MC bumps on my penis shaft. I had them zapped with cryosurgery by my GP 3 weeks ago. There is some scarring left from the blisters, but they are fading quickly. Since then I found one other small bump which I popped and removed the white material, then cleaned with antiseptic and have been no other signs of anything. My question is, after cryosurgery - when is it safe to resume sexual activity?
Thanks.

Hello,
One of the possibilities for your symptoms is prostatitis. During urination, the bladder contracts and expels the urine throught the urethra.  When the bladder is almost empty, it continues to contract down to squeeze out the last few drops.  As the prostate is adjacent to the bladder neck, the prostate gland gets squeezed by this action. So prostatitis is a strong possibility. I suggest you to get an examination done from a urologist and get all these possibilities evaluated. You need to get some investigations like urine examination, culture, ultrasound if the prostate and bladder, prostate specific antigen, examination of the prostatic fluid and cystoscopy done. Treatment is diagnosis specific.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Dear Dr Kaur,
Thanks for your thoughtful advice. Another question: I have had blood work as well as 2 separate urine tests done - just in case. All results are negative - no UTIs, STDs, HIV, or cancer. Still I am experiencing intermittent  aching in my urinary tract. Not sure if it's caused by all of the "checking" for molluscum I've been doing over the past 4 weeks, or if it's my imagination.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Hello,
After cryosurgery get a follow up done from your doctor and indulge in sexual intercourse only when he says because molluscum contagiosum can be transmitted by sex. Usually it is 3-4 weks after cryosurgery that physical relations are advised.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
