Molluscum around the testicle

by MacMac, Jul 17, 2005 12:00AM
Dear Doc,
I have been diagnosed with Molluscum and HPV in its early stage which I have received the liquid nitrogen treatment 2 times already within in two weeks apart from each treatment. I have been tested for both HIV and Syphilis which both came out negative.  I have been applying the Aldara cream as suggested, even twice daily. Last week I had a terrible itching sensation which I had scratched by the testicle area (the balls). Within a week of that, whatever it was had spread all over both sides testicle and  had worsen due to the heat, sweat and friction from moving up and down, so much so that it seemed to rub off a layer of skin on the both sides. Since then I have been going through severe pain that is almost unbearable to even walk. I have taken almost 3 days off  of work and have been spending this time airing this out underneath a fan for the entire day and night in hopes that it will dry up. But every time a take a couple steps even to go downstairs to eat, the area around testicles gets damp again. It seams like it is taking forever to heal. Some areas have been drying up and turning into scabs which tend to crack in every movement I make and other areas are still raw. These scabs tend to be thick cluster looking and is spreading around testicles making its way all over the shaft area, areas which I don’t think the Doctor had even treated with the liquid nitrogen. It seems to painful when I have to move and down. I have been using Neosporin to help heal. My next appointment with the Doctor is not until 2 weeks from now.

Question;

What can I do or what can I apply to make this heal and dry faster especially when I have to wear jeans and go to work?

These scabs that seems to be thick, cluster looking and are spreading, is it still Molluscum or something else?

Please help doc!!!!!

Please call the doctor who treated you.  It sounds as though the combination of freezing the lesions plus irritation is making you uncomfortable.  Cool compresses with plain watter may help, along with vaseline.  But if you're that uncomfortable, the doctor needs to know about it and very likely have a look at it, since this is not typical after warts or mollusca are frozen.  So please call, right away.

By the way, "Molluscum and HPV in its early stage" doesn't make much sense.  Either you have molluscum (one kind of virus) or HPV (a different virus.)  I very much doubt you have both.  Please ask your doctor for clarification.

Best.
