Molluscum or Herpes?

Molluscum or Herpes?

I have found what looked like ingrown hair at the bottom of the area where the penis attached to the pelvic area about a 12 days ago. At first I though it was an ingrown hair but then it became red and very swollen in that area and a second area right below it at the base became red and swollen. I may have aggrivated it by in the beginning plucking the hair around it and shaving the area aswell. It looks like they scabbed over and began to heal and but there were small fluid filled bumps in that area. I went to get a STD test for everything, the best tests available and everything came back negative. I copied the test to this message. I also went to urgent care and told the doctor about it and showed her and she thought it was a skin infection, this was yesterday. She gave me CEFUROXIME 250MGm twice a day for ten days. It was looking better and beginning to heal yesterday but now there are more fluid filled bumps. I also feel like the glands in on the right sode of my pubic region in swollen and my right testical feels like it is tense. None of this is painful but it is uncomfortable. I have been with my girlfriend for about a month and we have had unprotected sex, she is a professor in the medical field and she does not believe it was something that she gave me. I dont know what to think, I have had GP doctor look at it and I have had STD test done but I cant find the answer. I have been putting antibacterial cream on but no changes. It all started as what I though was a ingrown hair and then it got swollen in two places, the places you can see on the pictures. The redness and swelling went down and the two spots scabbed over and began to heal. So I asked two other dermotogists online and they said Molluscum after looking at pictures and I went to a urgent care and she said ingrown hair infection and I went to a dermotologist and he said herpes but it is acting nothing like herpes I believe. He ordered a culture, but it hasnt come back yet.Can I send a picture?

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

Based on information you provided, including one picture, this could be herpes simplex infection: grouped genital lesions in different stages – from vesicles and pustules to ulcers and scabs on edematous (swollen) basis, and with tender, inguinal lymphadenopathy (enlarged lymph nodes).

When the skin is damaged by herpetic lesions, secondary bacterial infection is a possibility, especially if that region is additionally traumatized. For example, pulling out hair or shaving affected area produces microinjuries to the skin that are potential entering points for bacteria. If that is the case, prescribing oral antibiotics can be justified.

Please, feel free to keep us posted on test results.
