Molluscum

by retusi, Sep 01, 2004 12:00AM
Dr,
I think i have molluscum warts. I have seen the posts in the website and i think I can reasonably think this is the case. One day I noticed I two small pimples very close to each other, about 1cm apart, about 5 inch below my belly button and I scratched it because it itched and thought of just popping them so they could go away faster. I noticed a week later that the lession was still there and I saw two pimples starting to develop about 1 inch higher from the previous two. This is when I realized it was not just a pimple. I have taken a closer look and see very small, pencil tip size small dots appearing around that area... about 7. I dont want them to spread and i am getting worried as you my think.
I have several question that I would like to be answered.
1.- Before this started I noticed that when I was having sex with my girlfriend, sometimes that same spot kinda itch, vaginal fluids i guess. I hear some women have a high ph sometimes. Is it posible that she gave me these things? Is it sexually transmitted?
2.- I dont want to go the doctor if its not necessary. I want these things to go away because i guess they spread when i scratch, do regular over the counter drugs for warts work for this case? ex. the bandaide you put on to remove warts or creams you can buy at the pharmacy?

3.- I havent seen these lessions on my girlfriend, is it possible that i could pass these warts to her if i dont do anything about it?

Thank u for your time, and excuse me for the length of the post.

Worried guy.

Most mollusca are not caught from other people. Even if they are mollusca, you probably won't transmit them to your girlfriend, and they aren't serious even if you do.  However, I am not at all sure from your description that these are mollusca.  They may just be clogged pores.  Don't use wart medicine--too irritating.  Don't scratch--ditto, plus too confusing.  Seeing a doctor may not be "necessary," though I don't know how you can be sure if you don't.  As to the itching during sex, I don't think that means anything at all.

Take care.
