Molluscum...when I will be ok? :(

by Talos21, May 21, 2008 06:55AM
Hi all!
I just subscribed here, because I have molluscum in my belly..:(
Actually , I had these white heads sure for a month, but I thought that they were from the sweat. (there were under the belt position). But a day, a red big pimple down the belly button appeared, and a few days later another one where the right leg and the belly meet. No scaring or pain. Or yes there was pain when applying force on them (the big red ones). At first I thought there was acne pimples, but when another 3 appeared, the one at the left leg-belly connection and the other 2 down the belt posiotion, I understood that I had to go to a dermatologist.
The doctor said that I had contagius moluscum (molluscum) and I had to remove them. So , another doctor removed them using a tweezer, and then applying iode. The doctror who saw me before the removal, also gave me an aclohol iode 2% solution to aply on top of the pimples. But after I had removed them, the other doctor also said to aply that solution.
But, I had removed only the white-head moluscum (molluscum) pimples, not the big red ones (they can't be removed..expect surgery maybe, there are like big red acne pimples). So, after 3 weeks from that time, these 7 red pimples are still there, I apply 3 times a day the alcohol iode 2% solution, but they dry and they continue to live..And as summer approaches, I can't stand the idea of having  these red pimples in my belly, I want to get rid of them as fast as possible. So, I would be grateful if some experts here could told me their opinion, about this annoying and embarassing situation.. :(

Thank you in advance

Best Regards

Hi.

Molluscum is contagious as this is viral in origin. For adults and older children, treatment may involve cryotherapy (freezing the lesions ) and incision and curettage may help. "Electrosurgery may be avoided as they may produce some scarring in the area."

Source: Lynch, P. Dermatology for the House Officer.1982.

You may discuss this with your doctor to help you weigh your options for managing the skin condition. These procedures may be painful. It is best to have this treated early on to avoid spread and transmission to others. Keep the area covered and also avoid unnecessarily touching the area
