Mosquito like bites in weird places!

by Rachel333, Oct 02, 2009 12:09PM
For about the past month or two, Ive been getting mosquito like bumps on my butt, thighs and waist. I am so confused as to where they are coming from! I am a little bit allergic to mosquito bites, so when I itch them they swell up alot bigger than normal, which is what these bumps are doing as well. I will get them all at once, about 5 - 10 on my waist, butt and or thighs, and then they go away within a couple days... Only to come back a week or 2 later. Im not sure if its bug bites or an allergic reaction to something or what. Can you please help me? Thanks

To: Rachel333,
Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub with clothes, folliculitis, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic), heat rash or excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis.

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid deodorant / cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or petroleum jelly or a thick moisturizing cream applied directly to wet skin after bathing.

If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. Scabies has to be ruled out.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
