Hi,

Molluscum contagiosum is a harmless virus that may persist for months or occasionally for a couple of years. It can spread from person to person  by direct skin contact or if present in the genitals, through sexual transmission. It will eventually go away on it’s own without leaving a scar. It may take from 6 months up to 5 years for all of the molluscum to go away

Diagnosis is usually through pjysical examination of the lesions. It is best that you have him evaluated by a specialist or a dermatologist for proper diagnosis. Medical treatments include: minor surgery, curettage  or laser ablation,  cryotherapy or Imiquimod cream. If dermatitis is present, this may be treated with hydrocortisone cream. Take care and regards.
