Murad, Proactiv, and Acne in general...

Hello. I am 23 and am half Filipino, so my skin is dark to light in areas of my face. A little over a year ago I started Proactiv. At first it seemed to be working, but then I had a slight number of break outs again that just seemed to persist. I moved to a different country, and the break outs seemed to get a little worse. Well, I thought maybe I should change my treatment. So I bought Murad, and have been using it for about two months. The first week and a half there seemed to be improvement. But then suddenly I started breaking out more, and in places where I don't usually break out on my face! The break outs spread, and seemed to get progressively worse, bigger and redder. I contacted Murad, and they told me this is just part of the "purging" process, and told me to stick with it. Well I am still on it, but my face is redder than I have seen it in a long time, and I am still seeing new break outs almost daily. Is this really normal? Should I stop this treatment or stick with it like they said? And if I do stop it, what acne treatments what would you suggest? I am also worried about the scarring that is now very evident on my face. Is there anyway I can get rid of it?
I am very worried that if the break outs don't stop, my face will be full of scars and red areas.
Please help me!

Thank you,
-Miki

When you have changes in environment and given that after two weeks your skin became red, it may be that you need to take a different approah to your breakouts. Many times breakouts that look like acne really aren't.  The easiest way to tell is to stop using the Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel for a week and see what happens.

Murad products are not harsh.  They are designed to treat specific skin concerns.  All products are created with antioxidants, anti inflammatories and hydrators  If you are uncertain about a product, please call us!

This is too long to part of the purging process and i think you are intolerant to the harsh products in Murad. If you have insurance see your doctor for a prescription topical gel like Duac or Differin and a course of oral anti-biotics like lymecycline. If you have no insurance the best over the counter product i can recommend is Freederm facial wash and treatment gel. If your skin gets red or dry from acne treatments use Lutsine Hydrafnia cleanser and moisturiser, specially made for spot-prone skin sensitized by some acne treatments. Google it for delivery. You can also speak with me in the acne forum. Loiloi x
