My 2 year old child has a white spot near her eye area

I have a two year old African American child. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that a white rough patch (it feels like little bumps) has appered on the left side of her face near her eye. The patch started off small but now is a size of a dime (it appers to be getting larger) What could cause this? Is there anything I can do? My daughter has suffered from exema (eczema) on her knees and elbows could it apper on her face?

This sounds like eczmea, which in dark-skinned individuals often produces temporary undercoloration. Cause is heredity, usually, not allergy. Hydrocortisone and its derivatives helps. You can try OTC 1% first. If that doesn't smooth things out, your pediatrician can prescribe something a bit stronger. The color comes back by itself, though it takes months. Ask your doctor, next time you see him or her.
