My Keratosis Pilaris on my face is making me self conscious

My Keratosis Pilaris on my face is making me self conscious

I have Keratosis Pilaris on my face, arms, and legs. It is worst on my face, and makes me extremely self conscious. The red bumps make my skin look like I have a rash on my jaw and lower cheek.

I've tried many different creams and medications, but most have caused my skin to become itchy, dry, or red.

My question is, is there I chance that it will ever leave my face?

If so, around what age, and what are the chances this will happen?

I can deal with it on my arms and legs, but my face really bugs me.

I'm a 13 year old female, if that helps.

Thanks.

Hi,

Keratosis pilaris is a very common condition especially during the teenage years.  It is  genetic in origin but the precise cause has not yet been determined. This is the reason why there is no  available cure or universally effective treatment for KP. It sometimes clears completely by itself without treatment and may even spontaneously clear completely after puberty. Moisturizers and non-soap cleaners may help while procedures such as pulse dye laser treatment or intense pulsed light (IPL) may reduce the redness but not the roughness.

Taken care and regards.
