If it is a fungus that you have on your nails, you can purchase a special nail varnish type of medication specifically to treat nail fungus from the pharmacy, but this is very expensive and it can take a long time for it to heal.

The first option you should do, is to make an appointment to see your doctor, who will be able to identify what it is that you do have.  Sometimes a doctor or the nurse will take a clipping of your nail to send to the laboratory to identify whether it is a fungal problem.

If the result comes back that it is a fungal problem the doctor can prescribe on prescription medications for you either to apply to the finger nails and the nail bed, or medication to be taken by mouth.  Again, this is a length process and you may need to be on medication for a few months.

Make sure that you have good hygiene and always wash your hands after using the toilet and before eating any food.  If your hands are in water a lot, get some hand protection, like latex free gloves.

Cut down or cut out sugary foods and have a good healthy diet with fresh fruit and vegetables, garlic, yogurt and drink water throughout the day so that you do not become dehydrated.

Whichever method you use, it will take a long time to treat.

Best wishes.

Be aware it could also be psoriasis, but tea tree oil cured my nail problem, even though I have psoriasis. A doctor who had previously been a pharmacist told me to use it.

Use tea tree oil on all nails at night and again during the day when possible.  Use 100% tea tree oil and try to find a bottle with a built-in dropper.  It makes it easier.  You can order it on amazon.
