Nail pitting

Nail pitting

Hi - around 2 weeks ago I noticed the my fingernails had small indentations, which I think is the start of nail pitting. Since then it's become mildly worse and I've noticed hit has spread to 50% of my other fingernails. I'm a little concerned something is not quite right, but I don't know how or what to relate it to. My family has a history of eczema but I have rarely had it, maybe once or twice and a very very small case. I had psoriasis of the scalp as a child, but with treatment It dissipated. Im now 27. Is it something of concern? Is it treatable? Im generally a healthy person so this seems a little out of the ordinary. Thanks in advance

Hello,
Psoriasis is one of the causes of nail pitting. Distorted nails can also be due to fungal infection, hardening of the arteries and vitamin deficiency. In your case, since you have a history of psoriasis, so it can be responsible for nail pitting and may required treatment.

I would suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
