I've had my naval piercing for about six months now and it seemed to be healing fine and i thought it was fully healed until two days ago when a pink bump formed on the bottom part of the hole. Its very uncomfortable. I just wanted to know if this was a sign of infection.
Belly piercings can become uncomfortable especially if you catch them on something, and they easily show signs of trauma. Wear a belly ring made from gold, don't be tempted to buy cheap fashion rings. Make sure the ring cannot catch on the top of your trousers and dry the area carefully after bathing. Clean the piercing with cooled boiled water.
If it doesn't heal quickly, return to the salon where you had it pierced or see your doctor for evaluation and advice. An infection may mean you have to remove the ring and the piercing may close over.
If anyone is considering a body or facial
piercing go to a reputable salon which is registered with the local authority. Make sure the person carrying out your piercing wears gloves. Follow their advice on after-care they may recommend buying a solution from them to clean your piercing with. Do not change the ring until the piercing has healed which usually takes at least 6 weeks. Remember that if you later choose to let the piercing close over, a scar will probably remain. Eloise x
