Necka and chest rashes

by katrinaKai, Oct 16, 2009 05:19PM
Im a 15 nearly 16 year old girl and for the past few years ive always had these red rashes apearing around my chest and neck, i wasn't really bothered about them before, but now im a lot more concoius about what iwear because people ask me what those rashes are and i just don't know. The rashes dont itch, they arent rough or swollen, they are just red and sometimes burn, they apear when im exersising in some way,or angry or upset and they sort of burn inside. The only past problem ive had with  my skin is 2 years ago when i got badly sun burnt across my chest - this is something different alltogether i think- but when i have a hot bath. a huge red  rash apears exactly where i got sunburnt too with a small gap in the middle were i wore a neclace at the time. I dont know if thats linked to these other neck and chest rashes because ive had these for as long as i can remeber its only now thyre annoying me. could anyone help?

Hello,
From the symptoms and pictures, it looks like tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor is caused by a fungus that lives in the skin of almost all adults. Factors that can cause the fungus to become more visible include high humidity and immune or hormone abnormalities. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines.

Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral.

If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
