What is a benign lentigo?

Hi,

A lentigo  is a small pigmented macule surrounded by normal-appearing skin. These may evolve slowly over years, or they may be eruptive and appear rather suddenly. Pigmentation may vary, with a color ranging from brown to black. Depending on the type of lentigo present, a solitary lesion or multiple lesions that can occur anywhere on the body.  The most common benign lentigo are  the  lentigo simplex and the solar lentigo.  This link may be helpful: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1068503-overview
