Need help determining skin condition

I have been suffering with this skin condition for over a year now. Up until about a month ago it has been tolerable. My symptoms have been a dry, itchy scalp with red bumps.  It has rapidly progressed over the past month 1/2 into this horrible itching all over my body with different types of bumps and marks all over my body, still including my scalp. I have red bumps like on my scalp that resemble pimples. I also have small marks under that skin that are pin size marks that look like blood blisters (but are smooth and flat) and I also have some darker round marks. The final symptom I am having is severe itching, especially at night, which gets so bad I cannot sleep. Now, over the past week the itching has spread to my eyes, nose and ears and pubic area. HELP! I feel like I am be invaded with something and the drs. just keep telling me I have dry skin. I haven't seen anything crawling on me or in my bed. I am so perplexed. I know it is something--more than dry skin. Also, I have noticed some of the tiny, red pin-***** marks on my husband and son. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it sounds like a fungal infection(tinea capitis). The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck.  Because of the scratching that is involved with the condition it can become secondarily infected with a bacterial infection.

It is contagious and can spread direct contact with someone who has the condition, or if you touch contaminated items such as combs, hats, clothing, or similar surfaces. Diagnosis is by clinical examination of the scalp as well as a skin lesion biopsy with microscopic examination.Anti-fungal medications, taken by mouth, are used to treat the infection. Also topical antifungals containing clotrimazole or miconazole is effective.

It is important to keep the area clean. A medicated shampoo on the scalp such as one containing selenium sulfide like selsen may also help.

If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing if you have any additional queries.
