Need to try to find out what this is??? Please help

Hi...This question is of a very personal matter.  My boyfriend and I are very concerned about an irritation that he has on his pennis.  We have been together faithfully for three years.  He has had this condition prior to us being together and do not have any indication to believe that I have it too, so we do not believe that it is sexually transmitted, but that is for you to help us decide.

Basically, in short, he gets these scabs throughout his pennis, mostly right below the head of the pennis.  FWhile sometimes they bleed as they are healing, for the most part, they come and go without any issues, but recently, they have gotten worse.  Instead of just coming and going, he is developing these circular shaped lessions where the scabs were.  The skin looks raw in the area, yet it is not painful.  The lessions appear to get better and then all of a sudden, they get worse. They always appear to be aggravated after intercourse.  Both of us have been diagnosed with herpes way before we met each other.  This condition does not look or feel like herpes at all.  I just found out that I also have HPV as a result of having an abnormal pap.  As it turned out, I've had it for at least a couple of years, yet the doctor who first found it never told me that I had it.  I do not have visible warts.  Neither does he.  We are just so puzzled with the intensity of the "outbreaks", if we can call it that...and concerned that it might be something serious.  Please help...

Scabs can be a manifestation of herpes, but herpes scabs come and go, while I think what you're describing is staying around for longer paeriods.  Basically, nobody is going to be able to diagnose this for you without seeing it.  I suggest that your boyfriend be sure to leave the scabs alone so as not to confuse the issue, and see a skin doctor so you both can find out what he has and he can get the help to get rid of it.

Best.
