Needle like pain, followed by a feeling of heat and red spots then brown spots

Hi.  I am in desperate need of help.  I am posting this question for my mother who is in terrible pain.  I will give as much detail as I possibly can.  Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.  In January my mother traveled to Jamaica.  When she came home she had the "normal" sickly feeling as you get from another country.  She had diarrahea and did not feel well for about a day.  Everyone that she went with expericend the same thing.  Problems were gone but now that I have thought about it in great length she and I think this is when everything started.  She has developed some sort of skin problem.  First, she broke out in half dollar and sometimes larger spots.  They were kind of redish/purple in color and did not itch but they hurt her.  After developing that within a few days she got what looked like a heat rash all over her body except for her face.  She said that before the rash appeared that she felt needle like pain almost like fiberglass was all over her skin.  Within a few days of what looked like a heat rash the red bumps then turned brown.  She now has what looks like moles all over her body, again, except her face.  She has seen numerous doctors and works at a hospital and shown doctors there but noone knows what it is.  She is in so much pain that she is taking mutiple showers every day, no soap, changed her laundry detergent, stopped using laundry detergent, bought new clothes (because she thinks that it has something to do with her clothing) and has gone as far as put Crisco all over her body.  In the last 5 months she has only had 4-5 good days.  Please help because I cannot bear to see my mother in so much pain.  I have seen my mother cry maybe 3 times in my life and now it seems like that is all she does is cry.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!  Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.
