Nevus

My son is 5 years old. he has epidermal nevus on left side of his body. he has on hand, body and leg. Under arm is the major one. He is developing very well. should I be worry about any complication that my son may face in life?Thank you.

Hi,

Epidermal nevus occur in various forms and there different prognosis and associations with each of the conditions. There may or may not be any of the events known to occur with such nevi. Depending on the epidermal nevi type there may be developmental abnormalities or tumor associated with this.

It is important to discover the type of epidermal nevus and then talk to your doctor regarding the condition and what can be done now. It is best to keep this under vigil, since epidermal nevi indicate some kind of developmental disorder.
