New Penile Lesion

I am a 38-year-old married, circumcised male in excellent health.  I endured a brief bout of genital warts, a single urethral wart that cleared with Efudex, about 15 years ago (1992).

Almost three weeks ago I discovered a 5mm by 2mm, flat, extremely slightly raised, hyperpigmented lesion on the shaft of my penis.  The lesion is just forward (distally) of the scar from my neonatal circumcision.  So, it is located where my foreskin would have been, in a non follicle-bearing area.  The lesion is slightly red, blanches completely with pressure, and is much less visible as my penis becomes less flaccid.  The lesion is more reflective of light than the surrounding skin, and from the proper angle, I can see two to three tiny, pearly scales that comprise the entire lesion.  Finally, twice in the past two weeks, a very very thin layer of skin has flaked off the lesion.  The lesion is painless, and does not itch, no bleeding or oozing.

I have a dermatologist appointment in 1.5 weeks, but am in high need of peace of mind.  I am worried to death about SCC in Situ.

Does this sound like Bowenoid Papulosis or Bowen's Disease?

Is four weeks too lengthy a period of time for treatment?  Should I expedite with another dermatologist?

How long does it take for SCC in Situ to become invasive?

FYI, about 7 years ago, I had a similar lesion that was less red, but itched a bit.  It resolved in about a month.

First, circumcised males don't get penile cancer.  Second, the spot you describe doesn't sound like cancer.  Please leave it alone so the doctor will be able to tell what it is, and then you can find out that you don't have anything to worry about, just as what you had several years ago didn't turn out to be anything.

I'd like to know what you find out from your dermatologist as I have what sounds like the same issue.  It started with one sore and has grown to three, all on the head.  They won't go away and a thin layer of skin flakes off every 1-2 days.  I have had them in the past and they always disappear overnight after a few weeks, but not this time.

penile cancer in uncircumcised men are very rare but rare doesn't mean never at all. Anything is possible.
