New To Florida

I just moved to Florida from West Virginia a month ago, and I love the sun. But since I've been here I have been sun burnt twice, both times resulting in small blisters that itch..I'm even itching where there are no blisters.. Could this be that I'm not used to the "Florida sun" or can it be something else..
Thank You for any advise.
