Hi thanks for your comments. I have considered atopic eczema and ruled it out simply because I thought it had to be very itchy and my sons condition isn't. Can atopic eczema not be itchy in some instances. Also there have been no oozing or crusting over. Any other thoughts please. Much appreciated.

Hi,
Certain skin spots or lesions are common in children and these disappear or regress as the child grows up. But still to be sure and have a confirmed diagnosis , consult a pediatrician. Avoid using any medicated or steroid creams especially in children with a doctor's consultation.

Hi,
How is feeling now?
I think it is Atopic Eczema. Atopic eczema usually present in first 6 months onwards. Usually appears on face or scalp. Clinical series of appearance includes erythematosus appearance initially followed by maculae’s then papules then plaques followed by oozing and crust formation.
Generally you can avoid exacerbating factors. Cut nail's short, file edges. Cotton clothes should be used and non-biological washing powders.
Emollients with steroid creams can be applied. Antibiotics can be considered for 10 days if eczema flares up.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
