Obssesed with HPV

by paul_smith, Nov 18, 2007 01:07AM

Hi Doc
I am a 31 year old heterosexual man suffering from OCD.I had protected vaginal sex with a woman who provides escort services,I had an early detection test DNA PCR HIV, tests for herpes 1 and 2,syphilis, doctor also confirmed  i dont have chhlymadia or gonnohrea., all tests were negative

Around 3 months or so i had another hiv test, hepatitis B &C and repeated all above test, all were negative, i read on the net that there is a disease called HPV, which causes moles or warts on pubic area,

I inspected my pubic area  i noticed two tiny skin growths , on the left and right side of the scrotum, my scrotum has lot of hair and its hard to notice, i showed it to my doctor, he says there nothing to worry, i had doctor visits thrice with the same answer, saying that i am uncessarily anxious and nothing to worry. Everytime when i read about hpv on the net, i go in the bathroom and keep checking my genitals and that tiny skin growth which is still the same as it is, i was diagonised with follculitis many months back, i took medication and then stopped it. My doctor said that having HPV is very common and my case it doesnt seem to be any problem, you are fine

I keep watching my pubic area everyday, dont see anything specific yet   , they say warts
can come after months , weeks or years, this is so tricky, there is no reassurance or guarantee
at all .

My question here is:

1. HPV can cause penile or anal cancer, what the chances i could get them.
2. After having said this by my doctor that there isnt any problem, is it better to live my life, or keep visiting doctors, I am not into any relationship now and practising abstinence, is HPV such a life threatenng thing as they show in the internet?
3 I had a mole in my anus since childhood, even before i was sexually active, i am a heterosexual person , my STD tests are all negative. Are all moles and warts an indication of HPV,
4. Can you get HPV without having sex???

Yes, you can get HPV without sex, but I don't read anything in your post to suggest that you have HPV.  I think you've asked doctors enough times about these bumps and you aren't doing yourself any favors by asking the same question over and over again.  Moles have nothing to do with HPV.  I don't think cancer is a concern, based on what you've described.  You've done your due diligence.  Enough.

Best.

I suffer from Bipolar Disorder.  I also have genital herpes, but when they come out(every six months), it's in my behind.  I don't show anything in my private parts. I take Valtrex every time I have an outbreak and it helps.  I used to take it every day but it didn't help.  I am practicing abstinence, because I don't think anybody would want to be with me and I'm afraid to give it to someone else.  This is driving me crazy because I don't want to spend the rest of my life by myself.  What are the chances of finding a cure?
