Odd skin forming in pubic area

Hi I'm 18, and I have noticed I have some odd dead skin between my penis and thighs. It has a waxy-like substance, and I'm able to peel it off. However, I'm scared if I do I might make my skin too thin and create an abrasion. The skin is grayish and white.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be, and how to get rid of it?

It could be a lot of things, sebboraic dermatitis, tinea cruris, psoriasis.  Whether it is fungal caused or bacteria caused determines what topicals should be used for treatment.  If its fungal, over the counter anti-fungal cream like lotrimin would clear it right up.  You can also try applying some cortizone 10 cream to the area to see if that works first.  Im not a derm but having gone through some bouts of skin conditions myself (eczema sufferer) I know what you are going through.  In the meantime, seeing a dermatologist wouldnt hurt either.  Its painless and you would surely get the 100% correct advice about treatment options based on an actual visual inspection of the area.  Good luck.
