One small bump on Head of penis

by concerned444, Dec 13, 2004 12:00AM
Dear Dr. R.,

I found one very small bump on my penis head toward the left.  It is slightly raised, no pain, no itching, etc.

It is reddish in the morning but as I watch it throughout the day it improves.  It becomes flatter, changes to skin color, and only a small dot remains.  By the afternoon or evening, I can barely see it anymore.  But then it seems to return the next morning and then improve again throughout the day.

I have never had unprotected sex, but have had unprotected oral sex.  No other symptoms exist.

From what I've read online and on your forum, it sounds like a clogged pore.  If so, what causes it? how do I treat it?  Or is it something worse?

I know I should stop checking incessantly.  Just worried.

I think it's a clogged pore.  Herpes and STD's don't fade and reappear.  My advice is to let the spot be and not examine it closely so it can heal, which it can do without any treatment.  It may take several weeks for the redness to fade completely.

Take care.

Hello Dr. Rockoff,

I have the same kind of bump described here but mine is white. It's more like a small, round, white spot in the middle of the penis head.  It appears to be within the skin.  I received oral sex about a week ago.  That's the only thing that comes to mind, which may have caused this. I'm also uncircumcized.

I appreciate any input on this.

Thanks.
