6 months ago and had to have a DnC. Since then I have noticed gradual thinning of my hair- not patchy- just all over- it sheds onto my clothing... it comes out in the shower, when I brush my hair and if I simply run my fingers
through it. This occurred post pregnancy with my 2 daughters, but improved. This time it has not improved yet! I started taking Nioxin about a month ago- the shampoo/conditioner and vitamins. It doesn't seem to be making a huge difference yet. I am slightly overweight andI am a vegetarian as well. I just had a CBC
done 2 weeks ago and all of my blood work came back normal. Are there any foods you recommend for hair loss? Or special supplements- esp. since I am a vegetarian. I still want to have another baby, so I do not want to take Rogaine or any meds. I have a dermatologist appt., but not for 3 1/2 weeks. I was just looking to find out anything AT ALL I can do or eat or take to help this horrible hair loss. I guess you don't know what you got till it's gone. I want my hair back so badly!
Thank you so much for your time :)
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like telogen effluvium and stress after D+ C can be responsible for this. Telogen effluvium is nonscarring alopecia characterized by diffuse hair shedding, often with an acute
onset. There is a chronic form also which persists for a longer duration and starts with insidious onset. Chronic telogen effluvium is hair shedding lasting longer than 6 months. Treatment consists of medications like Minoxidil, surgical approach(hair transplantation) and improvement in diet.
My sincere advice is to consult a trichologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
