Opportunistic Staph by Way of Herpes?

Opportunistic Staph by Way of Herpes?

May 11th (2008) I noticed a faint head ache and mildly sore throat (lasted about 3 days), which I linked to the humongous cloud of mold spores I inhaled the previous day while washing old dishes.

May 14th I noticed a rash on the shaft of my penis near the base on the left side after masturbating.  I went to a walk in doctor the following day. The physician was confident it wasn't herpes.  Labs were run and I was negative for HSV2 and tested positive for exposure to HSV1, but it was inactive (whatever that means).

Background: In the two weeks prior I had been sexually involved with two different people.  First person was just simulated sex without penetration.  Second person was just oral, and their teeth did hit at the base where the rash began.  I am a virgin (save the oral).

~2 weeks after the May 15 visit I went back to the sub par walk-in doctors and they said...maybe it's a yeast infection.  Go see a urologist.  Knowing that I had a dermatology appt on June 20 I decided to wait, since my symptoms weren't annoying.

Things picked up, I had little blisters on the shaft and along the mid-line of my scrotum that were wet.  They were painful when I walked.  The blisters began to spread to my thighs and anus.  I was convinced it was herpes.  Problem was it they only increased in number.

The Week of June 20th I got another headache, pain in the left lymph node(s) in my groin, tingling in the nerves in my feet and hands, and a ridiculous fever.

June 20th the derm thought it did not look like herpes, suspected it was staph. Gave me anti-microbial ointment and oral antibiotic (Bacitrin...or something like that) and things cleared up at an amazing pace.

I was relieved.  Things cleared up. I was able to resume sexual activity.  I did not have herpes!

Problem is after masturbating, I'd notice these fine little bumps that are pretty evenly distributed about my shaft.  They are kinda sensitive to the warm water of the shower.  I've been washing my genital region with cetaphil since the staph discovery (doc's orders).  Nonetheless, the skin of my penis has been kinda dry, and the little bumps are there when I have an errection.

Had a follow up with the derm on July 11th.  He told me to apply aquaphor to my penis after showering, which I've done, but now I'm freaking out again.

Should I get another herpes test?  Is the skin just traumatized from the staph? How long should I wait to decide whether the aquaphor is working?  Should I avoid sexual activity? Is a yeast infection still a possibility?

The bumps/dry skin has a faint itch to it - which I can't distinguish between an actual irritation and my imagination.

I just want peace of mind.  Sorry for the biography of my penis.
