Orange spots on scalp

by Tammy, Jun 02, 2000 12:00AM
My 15 year old daughter has orangish colored spots on her scalp.  They are flat and darker around the outer part of the spot. They vary in shape and size ,most are around 1/4 of an inch.  She says it doesn't itch.  Please help.

Tammy:

I'm afraid I need to ask you to show these spots to a dermatologist.  The only orange spots I am familiar with on the scalp are birthmarks, and they are single.  If there is hair loss in the spots, this may be a fungus, or perhaps mild seborrhea.  Nothing to worry about.  Check it out.

Best.
