Outer edge mouth bumps

Not sure what it is.  I am concerned that I may have an oral wart. It was a small pimple like growth on the outer edge corner of my mouth. Skin colored.  The doctor wasn't sure if it were a wart but more a skin tag. She froze it off and its in the process of healing. I'll probably make an appointment with the dermatologist.  Now I've read plenty about Fordyce spots and Sebaceous glands. I seem to have some fordyce going on as well.  But what are these other little spots/bumps/nodules or whatever, near outer corner that appear when I stretch my mouth? They are white-ish. These two things have been causing me some great concern as I worry about more oral warts and also RRP. Scary stuff. Thanks for any help and responses

Hello,
A mucocele is a condition that results from some injury or damage to the salivary (spit) gland tissue in the mouth. Usually a mucocele goes away on its own. But if it does not, then corticosteroid injections and surgical removal by scalpel or laser are done by a dermatologist. If the mucocele is small and recent, rinse the mouth thoroughly with salt water (one tablespoon of salt per cup) four to six times a day for a few days.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Thank you for your reply.  I am sorry for the delay in responding.  Haven't been on the computer for a while.  I've been stressed out lately.  I will try the topical antibiotics.  Now to make matters worse I seem to have developed a little mucocele type nodule on my upper labial frenum.  The little piece of skin that connects the upper inside lip to the upper gum.  I'm sure you knew that, and don't know why I stated that.   In any case, I've had some of these before in other places of the mouth so I will watch it and see.

Thanks again.  Have a great day.
:-)

Hello,
These small white bumps do not sound like warts. These can be due to Fordyce spots or folliculitis skin. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).

Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
