Overuse of Topical Acne Meds?

I regularly exceed the recommended dosage for topical acne products. I'm wondering if I might be doing more harm than good. Specifically, I tend to apply a fairly thick coating of PersaGel 10% Benzoyl Peroxide to my 'flare up' spots; a layer that goes over one or two other layers I've thoroughly rubbed in. I also use Cleocin T 1% in pledget form - it's hard to use too much of this, but I also have the Cleocin in an applicator bottle, which I use to dab a little (okay - sometimes a lot) extra on trouble spots.
So am I making things worse for myself, just wasting medication, or doing myself any good?

Mike:
No harm, that I can think of, but probably not much good either.  A little wasteful, perhaps, but if it seems to help . . .
Best.
