I have a painful bump on my left index finger (finger pad just above first knuckle). It will not go away (about 8 months now). My primary care physician suggested dyshidrotic eczema and treat with OTC Hydrocortisone. I have had dyshidrosis before this is nothing like it.
I will try to describe it
Round ≈ 3 mm wide
Raised slightly around edges - whitens with pressure - center stays "flesh colored" - almost blister like - nothing above the surface of the skin
Painful (almost like it has a "root") - swells sometimes
I have tried throwing OTC stuff at it (tea tree, Vitamin E, salicylic acid, etc) nothing seems to work. Just when I think it is gone... It comes back with a vengeance.
The cycle seems to go: swell/pain => almost disappears => callouses over => callous falls off => swell/pain... and so on...
I am at a loss... not easy to get to see doctor... waiting to see specialist could take months...
