Palmar Rash- questions?

Palmar Rash- questions?

Macular red rash on palms of hands and on inside of index fingers for about 10 days. A few red spots also on the back of my thumb. Bilateral. It varies by time of day- usually non-existent in the mornings and then gradually comes back by the evenings. Sometimes itchy (especially if heat is present). Seems to be stimulated by heat in general. When I run cold water on it, I sometimes see tiny red spots all over my palm as rest

Unlikely to be allergies (no new substances, bedding etc etc). One theory was that it is from playing a new Sony Playstation video game (about 12 days ago) for a long period of time (ie 12 hours) without a long break. Thought it might have been heat rash from this- however rash in present in parts of hands that did not have prolonged direct contact with game controller and has taken too long to disappear.

Weather here is also very cold at the moment. Suffering from cold symptoms (running nose, sore throat but no high temperature) but think unrelated. No history of eczema.

Under a lot of job-related stress at moment. 30 yo white male, otherwise in good health.

Most likely you are describing dyshidrotic eczema.  This nonallergic rash appears on the palms and alongside the fingers.  Because skin in that region is thick, you can see small blisters as little red spots.

Cause is unknown.  Correlations with exposures nearly always fail to stand up.

Treatment isn't necessary, because the condition resolves spontaneously, even if it recurs from time to time.  If it bothers you, you can treat it with a prescription-strength cortisone cream.  Perhpas visit to skin doctor would be in order, for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

Best.
