Pea-sized bump on scrotum

by Kleebin, Feb 19, 2002 12:00AM
About 3 months ago, I noticed a "zit-like" bump on my scrotum below the left testicle.  At first, I thought it was a zit or an ingrown hair or something similar.

It has grown to the size of a pea with no noticeable increase in size over the last 2 months.  It is white and fairly "firm".  I have tried to pop it but it simply will not burst.  I was even gonna take a hot needle to it but though better of that. There is no discomfort or redness/itching, etc.  It's just a white bump.

I had a physical soon after the appearance of the bump and the PCP didnt notice it during the genital exam.  I had to show it to him since it was underneath.  He said it was most likely a zit and not to worry.  But it isn't.  And it's not going away.

I have a new girlfriend who is afraid that I may have some type of STD although I assure her I do not.  It is causing stress in our relationship.

I want to know what it is and how to treat it.  I am even willing to email you a digital photo of the bump if it helps in your diagnosis.  My email is ***@****.

Thank you for your advice.

White, firm bumps on the scrotum are common.  They are cysts, and they don't go away.  You can have it removed, but there's no need to.  They are not veneral and they can't be transmitted.

For certainty, have a doctor take a look.  That will reassure both you and your girlfriend.

Best.

I too had the exact same thing on my scrotum. I actually popped it with a small razo incision and removed it. It looked and felt like the tip of a grain of rice. I don't recommend you do the same but it worked for me.
