Stressbyskin I see you posted this question 3years ago? What you explain is exactly what I am experiencing. Only I have it in one other spot as well. I have it in the same spot you described but also on the shaft of my penis on the underside. The micro cuts that break the skin with sex can be very painful! Immune has been going on now for a year! It looks like shiny scar tissue now. Did anything ever help and did this problem go away? I have seen three doctors and none of them have been able to help. They all keep prescribing me steroid creams. Lotriderm makes the redness go away and is a temporary fix but comes back in a week generally. I am so frustrated now as I have checked multiple forums and I keep seeing the same answers. Please help!!!
Oooh, ouch!
First off, do NOT use any soaps or shower gels. These are very drying.
Make an appointment to see your doctor so that the doctor can examine the area and take a swab to be sent to the lab to check for any bacterial and fungal problems. It does sound very much that it could be an overgrowth of yeast cells causing Thrush - and no, you do not have to have a discharge. Sometimes a yeast overgrowth can just cause soreness and itchiness. There are other skin conditions, which I won't discuss here.
The doctor will be able to prescribe either a cream and/or medication to be taken by mouth (Fluconazole or similar). Canestan cream can be purchased from the chemist without a prescription and so can Fluconazole 100mg which is a 1 single dose capsule to be taken with a glass of water.
But before going to the chemist and buying these things, I strongly urge you to see your doctor.
The doctor may know exactly what the problem is just by examining you and will be able to prescribe things for you to use. The medications bought from the chemist are not as strong as ones that the doctor can prescribe.
It may also be worth getting checked out if you are glucose intolerant or have diabetes. Having this can cause skin problems down below. Being on antibiotics can also bring about yeast overgrowth resulting in Thrush.
The doctor can also prescribe an emollient for you to use as a substitute for soap and as a moisturiser. There are different types available: Diprobase, Doublebase, Dermol 400, Dermol 600 (the Dermols are anti-microbial) and are used for skin disorders; Emollin which comes as a spray and you can also get Canestan as a spray (this is on prescription only). There are lots of others, I have just mentioned a few.
There are lots of other medications available, so if the ones that you have are not working for you, the doctor can prescribe a different one. Trimovate is pretty good, but it is not always available - you can only get this on prescription. Other creams that I know of is Lotriderm and Daktacort. These ore only available on prescription. So if one cream does not help or suit you, the doctor would prescribe a different one.
Only wear cotton underwear and no tight clothing and wear clean underwear every day. Do not have sex until you are well clear. Applying natural set yogurt to the clean and gently dried genitals will also help. By the sounds of things, I feel that you will need a longer treatment time. It is a fungal problem that you have, this can be passed on to your sexual partner and you can also get infected again.
Once you get things under control, you will need to manage things so that they do not flare to this uncomfortable state.
As you do have a skin issue, you may have an allergy to latex. You can these days get latex free condoms.
Make sure that you eat a healthy and balanced diet and cut down on all sugary and processed foods. Thrush loves sugar.
Use a non-biological washing detergent to wash your clothes as your skin may also be allergic to the biological ones.
If your condition does not improve after a couple of months with doctors prescriptions, ask to be referred to a dermatologist.
Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes.
Apply crisco to the area every day twice a day. It may sound weird but crisco is lard which is a natural moisturizer making it perfect for the sensitive skin in the genitalia area. Try it, hope this helps!
