Penile Warts or what?

by plzhelp, May 18, 2002 12:00AM
I am 28 and have been married for 6 years and just last week I noticed what looks like a wart on the shaft of my penis?  I dont have any other warts on my body and havnt had one in years.  Here are my questions.

1.  How can I get this without having sex with someone infected?  I know that my wife and I have not seen anyone different, ever.

2.  There is only one that is flesh colored and looks just like a wart that you would have on your body somewhere else.  Could this be something else?

3.  Is it contagious?

4.  What type of doctor should I see if you think this is a genital wart?

Thanks

The bump may not be a genital wart.  The doctor who can tell you best is a dermatologist.

Even if it is a wart, it doesn't mean you caught it.  People get warts all the time--on fingers, legs, and genitals, without having contacted anyone who has a wart.  So I understand your perplexity, but you don't have to worry about that.

I would suggest that you be checked to see if it is a wart.  If your wife goes for regular Pap smears, as she should anyway, then she will be checked too.

Whatever the bump is, the doctor can burn it off in a flash.

Take care.
